Virtual Open Studios
Due to the pandemic, Fenway Studios will host the 2020 Open Studios as a virtual event and our studio artists created virtual "studio tours." Although it is not quite the same as wandering though the building and meeting people in person, it will give a glimpse of what has been happening over the past year.

City Hall Grant to Install Decorative Panels
Design for artistic fence to replace existing deteriorated fence
As part of Neighborhood Improvements, FoFS received a grant from the City to install decorative panels along the fencing on Ipswich St. at the Mass Pike in front of Fenway Studios, thus hiding the blight caused by traffic.
Lower Level Studio Dedicated for Use by the Community
Artists conferring in studio
Based on a business plan funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Fenway Studios Read More has dedicated a 2000 sf lower level studio which will serve as exhibition, teaching, meeting, lecture and fundraising use by the community. Currently the raw space has been made code compliant for affordable rental studios, in short supply in Boston.
Masonry Repair of the North Facade Complete
Thanks to Grants from the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Henderson Foundation, and together with a Prupac grant, we were able to complete restoration of the integrity of the building envelope.Fenway Studios Housing Cooperative and Friends of Fenway Studios are excited that at long last we have been able to complete restoration of the trademark north façade. The disintegrated water table, window jambs and sills have been rebuilt in this phased construction process.
Award winning preservation architects Spencer and Vogt Group of Charlestown solicited bids from several specialists and work is now complete.
Key to the approval of our grant applications has been the commitment by Fenway Studios Housing Cooperative to create a permanent accessible public gallery/flex space - see item above - within the building for exhibitions, talks, lectures, meetings, workshops and fundraising, creating a “community benefit.”

2025 Fenway Studios Artists on the field at Fenway Park!
The Fenway Studios Artists do not balk at the chance to step onto the hallowed field of Fenway Park.
With excitement to rival watching Jarren Duran blast a homer out of Fenway Park and onto Lansdowne Street…..five artists from Fenway Studios not only cheered on the beloved hometown team during the evening game on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025…..but as guests of the Boston Red Sox they were introduced to the crowd before the first pitch was thrown via the Green Monster’s JUMBO TRON as they happily waved from home plate!!
Fenway Studios artists, Peter Williams, Mary Hughes, Susan Morrison-Dyke, Tony Dyke, and Thomas Topper had a night to remember at neighboring Fenway Park. Through the generosity of the Boston Red Sox, Friends of Fenway Studios President, Lynda McNally, worked with Community Relations Executive Manager, Alejandro Auffant, to arrange this ‘Field of Dreams’ dream, and make it into a reality!
“The Boston Red Sox are exceptionally supportive to the community,” McNally said, “they are earnest in their desire to assist local organizations. For our upcoming June 1st exhibition featuring staff artists from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Alejandro not only coordinated my request to have a World Series Trophy displayed at Fenway Studios…..but he went above and beyond and arranged for vintage replicas of Boston Red Sox uniforms, baseballs, bats, and gloves to accompany the World Series Trophy!!
Plus, Alejandro and his associates could not have been more pleasant to work with….our event will be all the more entertaining and interactive because of their sincere willingness to help. Fenway Studios welcomes the opportunity to have many more community collaborations with the Boston Red Sox.”2025 Fenway Studios OPEN STUDIOS Weekend Celebration!

Proudly, 2025 marked Fenway Studios 17th Annual Food Drive, and this year’s beneficiary for all the more than two-dozen bags of non-perishable food items collected, as well as a $500 donation in support of the vital work the non-profit organization performs, was Victory Programs.
Victory Programs is a heaven-sent multi-resource organization that is dedicated to preventing people from feeling alone, everyone is welcomed. To all who enter their ‘Red Door,’ expert help and assistance with challenges of homelessness, food insecurity, health and recovery is provided with grace and kindness.
Fenway Studios was honored to contribute to the essential work Victory Programs performs for so many, please visit their website to learn more about their heartfelt commitment.
Our Weekend full of JOY and BEAUTY was organized by the Fenway Studios Open Studios Committee…..Jim Connelly, Nan Hass Feldman, Ellen Haiken, Oana Lauric, Lynda McNally, and Tom Topper…..with the valuable assistance from volunteers…..Dan Feldman, Jackie & Henry Gates, Afton Myers, and Kyra Scott.

Mary Hughes Fine Art Summer News
2020 has brought a lot of challenges to everyone and making art or thinking about making art has not been on the top of my priority list. In considering what could be useful and important in our current climate, I had a flash sale of older work this past spring. My goal was to donate 50% of all profits to COVID relief funds. Through Facebook and Instagram posts, I was able to reach many of you and I appreciate all the participation! My original goal was to donate $500 but due to the generosity and enthusiasm of my social media pals, the final amount was $1000! This was then split between the Boston Fund and the City of Boston COVID-19 Relief Fund. Many Thanks!!!!
My website has been recently updated to include my newest work. You can check it out here. Long range plans include an updated web site but in the meantime, I have been updating my Etsy site with new work- Mary Hughes Fine Arts. Over the coming weeks I will be adding small works to the site. Our fall open studios at Fenway Studios has been cancelled but we will be doing a virtual event. More details to follow!
My work will be featured several group exhibits this summer. Because of ongoing concerns related to the pandemic, two of the events are strictly virtual. The third will be a real live exhibit! See details below.
